Day Passes to Paradise

A Tropical Oasis in the middle of Puerto Jimenez.

Are you staying at a place in Puerto Jimenez that just doesn't offer you the tropical experience that you were expecting while visiting the Osa Peninsula? It's a common complaint these days with so many tiny homes, hostels, and hotels now offering accommodations in Puerto Jimenez. Yes, you might get a cheap place to lay your head, but you probably won't get a real tropical experience.

No worries though, because Chosa Manglar Nature Retreat offers morning, afternoon and full-day passes, so you can relax and view local flora and fauna during the day. We have over 4 acres of land bordering the creek, mangrove, pasture, and forest that is home to many species of Osa wildlife. We offer an outdoor garden area with picnic tables set up with social distancing in mind and amazing opportunities to see local flora and fauna. The garden offers a 200 MB Fiber Optic connection to our WIFI and a small internal trail as well as a pond onsite for relaxation amidst a tropical setting. You may park your car for free during your visit and even rent a locker for your personal belongings if you wish.

Why pay a small fortune for a day tour to see animals when you might see the following animals right here, Scarlet Macaws, various types of toucans, 4 species of monkey, kinkajous, coatis, raccoons, armadillos, anteaters, squirrels, hawks, sloths, ocelots, crabs, butterflies, dragonflies, damselflies, frogs, snakes, lizards, crocodiles, geckos, and iguanas. During one day alone in July 2020, we did a bird count and identified 66 species in 4 hours but we are recognized as an international birding hotspot on e-bird with 90 species seen to date.

Have a picnic on site. Visit the supermarket right across the street and buy your goodies, set up your table, and enjoy, or if you prefer order lunch from one of the local restaurants that offer service in our garden. We guarantee that a lunch outdoors in our gardens is 200% better than any restaurant experience available in Puerto Jimenez.

Enjoy Costa Rica for the reason you came, namely the flora and fauna. That's what we're all about, but don't take our word for it, come and see for yourself. Recycling bins on-site as well as a parking lot.
