Chosa Manglar Nature Retreat, Casa Palapa Hut, Casa Manglar, and La Palapa Hut Nature Hostel and Campground are all located on our in-town property of 1.4 hectares or 4 acres. With only 19 rooms on the entire property, this means that all guests have ample space to stay safe while visiting us. No crowding like in so many other hotels and hostels. For now, our dormitories are closed and will stay so until the Ministry of Health gives the ok to reopen dormitories. We have done a complete rework of our front garden sitting area with the addition of many tables for outdoor enjoyment of the flora and fauna as well as adding a new fire pit. The pond is also a great place to get away from it all. If you check google maps you will see that we are completely under tree cover. We are located in a park-like setting unlike so many other accommodations in town. Just look at any online map to see what we are saying. So, if you are looking for a green experience full of life and with reasonable prices then you can do no better than right here. Oh, and please don't ask us to discount our few accommodations as we already offer great prices. We have had zero income since March 2020, so asking for a further discount is just like sticking a knife into an open wound.

On the 14th of May ICT (Costa Rican Tourism Agency) published new protocols to help prevent the spread of COVID 19 which all tourist establishments must adhere to in order to meet government protocols and therefore function healthily and legally. We were given the green light to open to Costa Rican travelers but with a maximum of 50% occupancy on May 16, 2020. On August 1 Costa Rica reopened the two international airports in the country for travelers from various countries. As of November 1, 2020 visitors from all countries are welcome to enter Costa Rica.

Please know that we are doing our utmost to safeguard your health while visiting us. You will find easy access to antibacterial hand soap, sanitizing gel, and alcohol while visiting, so please use it freely. We also ask that you keep at least 1.8 meters or 6 feet distant from personnel and other guests as well as wearing a face covering when less than 6 feet from others. The kitchen is 100% closed to all guests and there is no food storage space so please. DON"T ASK us to make an exception for you. You may order something to eat from a variety of local restaurants. We have some of their menus on-site and are happy to order for you. They are happy to deliver for a small fee, usually less than 2 dollars.

Finally, you should know that we won't enter your room for cleaning unless you specifically ask us to do so, instead, we will be happy to mitigate risk for both you and our associates who will only enter to clean the room upon your departure. Towels can be exchanged by bringing them to the front desk and requesting new ones.

Pura Vida,

Familia Gray Ortega and all our associates.

You can Check-Out at Check-In, but for now just relax, breathe deep and take a few moments to explore a pristine corner of the tropics. We are located on the beautiful Osa Peninsula in the south pacific of Costa Rica where Jaguars and Tapirs still roam the lush, green forests of Corcovado National Park, and where Whales, Dolphins and Turtles all frolic in the deep blue waters of the protected Golfo Dulce

We believe the best way to truly enjoy a visit to this tiny corner of the world is to surround yourself in the natural history of the area. Walk the forest and get out on the water. If you do both, you will fall in love with the Osa and remember it for a lifetime. You won’t remember your room a decade from now, but you will remember the gardens with a multitude of trees, plants, flowers, butterflies, insects, monkeys, hummingbirds, scarlet macaws, toucans and iguanas to name just a few species. Everywhere you look something is living, breathing, and moving. After all, isn’t that why you’re visiting Costa Rica?

We offer a comprehensive Digital Gateway to Adventure, Lodgings, Activities, Tours, Transportation, Real Estate & Business Opportunities in southern Costa Rica where you can review and reserve independent adventures, nature retreats, hotels, guesthouses, B&B's, hostels, and campgrounds. Remember that hammocking, hiking, trekking, biking, fishing, horseback riding, kayaking, swimming, surfing, snorkeling, and diving all enhance your tropical escape.

Each property offers a unique interaction with mother nature. They all cater to people that enjoy tropical adventures, friendly, local service, and great prices. Owners and team members know the local people, language, customs, landscapes, and attractions making us ideally suited to help plan your next tropical adventure.

We help our visitors create wonderful tropical adventures, but we also help property owners create & manage a dynamic, digital presence. Decades of hands-on experience combined with an owner's attention to detail have allowed us to assemble a robust digital presence for both individual and multi-unit properties with a seamlessly integrated online reservation & payment system.
